Islamabad: Amending its constitution, Pakistan’s Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has removed Altaf Hussain from the post of party chief on Thursday.

“Article 9b has been detached from the MQM constitution. Hence, the party will no longer seek Altaf Hussain’s guidance for making decisions,” said the party’s deputy convenor Farooq Sattar while addressing a press conference in Karachi.

It may be mentioned that the 9b clause had made it mandatory for the party to consult Hussain before making a decision. Few days ago, it was announced by Sattar that MQM had disowned Hussain after his anti-Pakistan remarks followed by a crackdown against the party across the country’s Sindh province.
