Vatican City: Known as the ‘saint of gutters’ for her compassion towards the poor and deprived people, Mother Teresa will be officially made a saint of the Roman Catholic Church on Sunday, 19 years after her demise.

A large score of people from different parts of the world are expected to attend the tiny nun’s canonization which is to be led by Pope Francis at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome’s Vatican City, Italy.

It may be mentioned that Nobel peace award receiver Mother Teresa was one of the most prominent and influential women in the Roman Catholic Church’s 2000-year history. She had been acclaimed for serving the world’s poorest of the poor at the slums of Kolkata during her lifetime.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be among the Indian attendees of the canonisation ceremony.
