Brasilia: Following Dilma Rousseff removal in an impeachment trial, Michel Temer was sworn in as Brazil’s new President on Wednesday.

Raising his hand, the 75-year-old statesman swore to uphold the constitution hours after Dilma was impeached and removed as the Latin American country’s president.

A loud applause could be heard during the swearing-in ceremony at the jam-packed senate centre.

It may be mentioned that Temer is a lawyer as well as a politician belonging to the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party (BDMP).
