Melania Trump files $150m defamation case against Mail Media

Washington: Nominee of Republican Party for the United States (US) presidential polls Donald Trump’s wife Melania on Thursday filed a $150 million defamation lawsuit against Mail Media – The Daily Mail’s parent company – and a blogger namely Webster Griffin Tarpley. The case has been filed in the wake of retracted stories claiming the lady worked as an escort back in 1990s.

Earlier, Melenia Trump had threatened legal action against several publications picking up the story. The story was sourced to a Slovenian magazine according to which Melania once worked for a modelling agency of New York that used to provide escort services to its moneyed clients.

“The allegations are completely baseless and damaging to my client’s personal as well as professional reputation,” said Melania’s lawyer Charles Harder in a statement.
