Washington: Rumored potential candidate for the post of World Bank President, Ivanka Trump is likely to make recommendations to the President Trump, who will nominate a candidate for the position.

Ivanka, the senior advisor to US President was also on the list of potential successors to Jim Yong Kim, who unexpectedly quit this past week as president of the World Bank, but due to some internal reasons she will not be running for the post.

Ivanka Trump, who had been rumored to be a contender for the position herself, will not be a candidate, Jessica Ditto, a White House spokeswoman said.

While talking about Ivanka's nomination recommendation, Ditto said that Ivanka Trump was asked because "she's worked closely with the World Bank's leadership for the past two years"

Administration officials are expected to begin the interview process for the job on Tuesday.

US President however, holds strong influence in choosing World Bank President as the US holds a controlling share voting rights. The cadidate picked by Trump will likely be the successors to Jim Yong.

Kim was selected for the post in 2012 by former President Barack Obama. He is leaving to take a job at investment firm Global Infrastructure Partners. Mr Kim is stepping down after six years at the helm of the Washington-based bank.

The President with nominate the candidate for the position based on the recommendations by Ivanka Trump, Mnuchin and Mulvaney. After which the Member countries of the World Bank will vote on the nominee.
