Iranians celebrate 37th anniversary of 'Bahman 22'
Tehran: Lakhs of people were witnessed raising slogans in the support of 'sovereignty, freedom and islamic republic' as part of all round celebrations in various cities of Iran including Tehran to commemorate 37th anniversary of the success of 'Islamic Revolution' .
A series of rallies and processions marked the day for Iranians who commemorate Feb. 11, 1979, when followers of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini ousted U.S.-backed Shah Reza Pahlavi. The United States had brought Pahlavi to power after facilitating the 1953 coup that overthrew Iran's popular prime minister, Mohammad Mossadegh.
The Islamic Revolution had emerged victorious on February 11, or Bahman 22, 1979 after toppling the Pahlavi regime, the last monarchy to rule Iran.
Thousands of reporters and cameramen from Iran and other countries were coverings the rallies in Tehran which would be addressed by Iranian President Dr Hasan and spiritual and leader of American Blacks Louis Fakhan. The participants from about 28 countries have joined the celebrations in Iran on the occasion.
