Gudni Johannesson likely to be the new PM of Iceland: Exit poll

Reyjavik: Gudni Johannesson will be next the President of Iceland ,according exit poll prediction made in this regard.

Gudni Johannesson is a history professor and political commentator who has never held public office.

Johannesson has vowed to restore Icelanders' faith in the system after years of public anger toward politicians for miring the country in scandals and financial woes.

Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, the current president, 73,is stepping down following the publication of Panama papers. He has held post for five straight terms spanning 20 year. Grimsson is the only president to ever do so.

He had also exercised his veto right three times in two decades.
