Kathmandu: As many as 28 people have lost their lives and several were injured in floods and landslides due to torrential rainfall in Himalayan nation of Nepal, said officials.

“The whereabouts of 24 people were still unknown after the landslides, which were triggered by incessant rainfall in various parts of the country,” said media reports.

Floods hit about 10 districts in which several houses were collapsed.

The districts including Pyuthan, Gulmi, Palpa, Baglung, Makawanpur, Rupandehi, Kathmandu, Arghakhanchi, Dolakha and Sarlahi were hit by the floods, said sources.

“The district relief committees have been instructed to carry out rescue and relief operations in coordination with local police," said the Ministry.
