Flash flood kills 43, injures 40 others in Pakistan

Islamabad: At least 43 people were killed and 40 others injured in a flash flood which hit north-western province in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of Pakistan, washing away most of the settlement.

Chitral district is the worst stricken area, said National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

In a statement, NDMA said-

  • Sixteen people were offering prayers in the mosque when flood water rushed to the area.
  • Nearby houses and Pakistan army check post were also washed away.

According to English daily, eight security personnel have lost their lives while four others were severely injured.

A search operation has been launched by Pakistani army and paramilitary forces to locate the missing people.
