Eight people killed in suicide bombing near US Embassy in Kabul

Kabul: At least eight people lost their lives and more than 22 were injured when a suicide bomb attack was performed at a convoy of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation in the capital of Afghanistan.

The incident took place in the early morning of Wednesday near United States Embassy near Massoud Square in central Kabul and was heard in many parts of the city.

According to the eyewitnesses, the attack was meant to target the National Defence Security guards. One of the eyewitnesses said, "Blast targeted armoured personnel carriers used by the Nato-led Resolute Support mission.A large number of civilian vehicles in the area were damaged."

The injured were immediately taken to the nearby hospital. The doctor said, "We are trying our best to save the lives of the injured. Few of the injured people are in critical condition."
