The dispute continues between India and Canada regarding Khalistani Terrorists. Canadian PM Justin Trudeau has said regarding the matter of plotting the murder of Khalistan supporter Gurpatwant Singh Pannu that there has been a change in India's stand after the American allegations.

However, Trudeau said, "We do not want to get into a situation of war with India on this issue at this time." We want to work on a trade deal. We want to advance the Indo-Pacific strategy."

America has accused an Indian citizen of involvement in conspiring to murder Pannu. Whereas Canada had made serious allegations against India regarding the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. However, India has rejected both the allegations outright.

Trudeau said "I think there has been a beginning of an understanding. They (India) cannot change their course. Now more avenues are open for cooperation, which were less earlier.

He further said, “We do not want to get into any conflict with India at this time. We want to work on this. We want to move forward on the Indo-Pacific strategy, but it is important for Canada to stand up for people's rights, people's security and the rule of law. "That's what we're going to do."

Trudeau said that it seems that the indictment imposed by America has convinced the Indian government to adopt a more peaceful stance. There is a feeling that perhaps this problem will not be solved by continuing attacks against Canada.

In September, Trudeau had made allegations of 'possible' involvement of an Indian agent in the killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia on June 18, after which relations between India and Canada had become extremely tense. India had declared Nijjar a terrorist in 2020. India had rejected Trudeau's allegations, calling them "absurd".

Federal prosecutors in the US in November accused an Indian citizen of being involved in a foiled plot to assassinate a Sikh separatist leader. Last month, US federal prosecutors filed charges against Nikhil Gupta for abetting a conspiracy to kill a Sikh separatist.
