Washington: According to a delegate count carried out on Thursday last, Donald Trump has the number of delegates required to clinch the Republican National Committee (RNC) presidential nomination.

Moreover, Trump has had the nomination locked down for weeks. He has now reached the threshold of 1,237 delegates with the help of previously uncommitted ones, who now support his candidacy.

Highlights:

  • A handful of states, including California and New Jersey, will hold the final primaries on June 7.
  • Speaking at a news conference, Trump revealed that he had clinched his party’s nomination before Hillary Clinton.
