New Delhi: Covaxin, India's first indigenous vaccine to prevent the corona pandemic, can be approved internationally today. This decision can be taken in the meeting of the World Health Organization (WHO) today.

Decision will be taken in the meeting of the WHO today

Last week, WHO's Chief Scientist Dr. Soumya Swaminathan had told that the meeting to be held on October 26 will decide on the inclusion of Covaxin vaccine of Bharat Biotech in Hyderabad in the list of world-class emergency use.

WHO has said that Bharat Biotech has provided all the documents related to Covaxin, whose review is almost complete. In the meeting to be held on Tuesday, the experts of the committee will give their opinion, besides examining the effect of the vaccine, safety and level of antibodies etc., on the basis of which Covaxin can be included in the list of emergency use.

Covaxin is not yet internationally approved, making Covaxin supplements not eligible for foreign travel. In most countries, only those people are being admitted who have received the vaccine dose included in the WHO list internationally.

To increase the capacity of vaccine manufacturing in India, the US financial agency US-IDFC has signed a $ 50 million agreement with Biological E. The company's capacity is set to increase to one billion doses.
