Erbil (Iraqi Kurdistan) : At least seven people were killed and four others were injured in a twin bomb attack that targeted the headquarters of an Iranian Kurdish opposition party here on Tuesday night.

"The blast occurred at 2200 hours in the town of Koysinjaq yesterday, killing five members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party-Iran, a member of the security forces and a child", said Jalal Karim, The Kurdish region's deputy interior minister.

Two peshmerga fighters and two security police officials were severely injured in the attack.

The explosion took place during Yalda celebration, a celebration of winter solstice on December 21–the last night of fall and the longest night of the year.

The former Iraqi Minister of Finance Hosyar Zebari blamed the Iranian intelligence for the attack.

Zebari said,"Most likely Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards (IRGs) Ministry of Inteligence and Security( MOIS ) carried the terrorist attack against Kurdistan Democratic Party(KDP-I) headquarters in Koi Senjak E of Erbil."

It may be mentioned that earlier on August 9, 2015, the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan alleged that Iranian agent planted four improvised explosives at Komala’s Zrgwez camp, which were defused by the Kurdish security forces.
