Beirut: As many as 47 people died including 14 minors and nine women in Turkish air strikes against Islamic State terrorists in Al-Bab city of Syria on Thursday.

The air strike came after the killing of 14 Turkish soldiers by IS terrorists in Al-Bab. It was one of the biggest loss of Turkey in the battle so far.

Several people sustained severe injuries and death toll is likely to rise. Injured were rushed to the nearby hospitals.

Security forces have cordoned off the area. Other details are awaited.

"Turkey is in the midst of a great struggle. Our fight against terror continues both in our country and outside our borders,” said Prime Minister Binali Yildirim of Turkey.
