Kabul: As many as 53 terrorists were killed on Monday during Afghan army and police encounters, said Afghanistan Defence Ministry.

During the raids, army defused several explosives and landmines.

There is a sharp decline over the Taliban-led attacks after Afghan army beefed up the security on the borders.

Three terrorists were put behind the bars.

Nine army men, however, have also lost their lives during the attack.

In a telephonic conversation with the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said, “Pakistan remains strongly committed to deepening cooperation with Afghanistan in fighting the scourge of terrorism, which is a common enemy.”
