Afghan army, police kill 120 Islamic State terrorists

Kabul: At least 120 Islamic State terrorists were killed after Afghan army along with police and intelligence agency launched attack on them, said officials on Thursday.

In an attack from the joint forces, about 48 and 49 terrorists were killed in the Achin and Patika district respectively.

“In one operation, 22 Taliban militants were killed after the troops raided their bunkers in Sangin district of Helmand province,” said sources.

During the raids, army defused several explosives and landmines.

There is a sharp decline over the Taliban-led attacks after Afghan army beefed up the security on the borders.

Four army personnel, however, have lost their lives during the phase.
