6.5-magnitude quake jolts Philippines | No casualties or damages

Manila: An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale hit the Philippines on Thursday, although no casualty or damages were reported.

The quake, whose epicentre was located at a depth of 6 km, struck 3.3 km northeast of Masarayao in the Leyte province and 12.3 km northeast of Ormoc, according to the US Geological Survey.

The Philippines lies along the geologically unstable Pacific Ring of Fire and is prone to natural disasters, including typhoons, earthquakes and volcanoes.
