Lucknow: Following the violence witnessed on January 26 during the farmers’ tractor rally in Delhi, the Uttar Pradesh government has swung into action to prevent a repeat of the same in the state.

Acting tough, the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government has removed ongoing kisan dharnas from all three places in the state, namely Chilla border and Rashtriya Prerna Sthal & Green Garden in Noida and Baraut in Baghpat.

State government sources said no force was used and protesting farmers themselves vacated the dharna spots. They added that the police are looking for miscreants who were associated with these protests. Adding that the accused are absconding.

ADM Baghpat Amit Kumar Singh was quoted as saying that the National Highways Authority of India had written a letter to the state government, mentioning that highway work was getting delayed due to the protests. The NHAI requested the UP government’s cooperation in the matter, Singh added.

“We have peacefully removed the protesters (from the Delhi-Saharanpur Highway),” the ADM informed.
