Yogi Adityanath in Moradabad: ‘UP is no fiefdom of dynasts’

Taking a pot-shot at dynastic politics, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Monday said at a public rally in Moradabad’s Ramlila ground: “Na bhai-behan, na bua-babua ki jodi; UP nahi kisi ki bapauti (Neither the brother-sister duo and nor the pair of the aunty and her nephew; UP is not a fiefdom of anyone).”

The CM, though, did not directly name Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi (bhai-behan) or any other anti-BJP leader in his speech.

The CM has been addressing a series of meetings in various districts for the last few days in connection with the urban local body polls scheduled to be held in two phases on May 4 and 11. After Moradabad, the chief minister is scheduled to address meetings in east UP districts like Pratapgarh, Jaunpur, and Varanasi.

He said the BJP government never believed in the politics of appeasement, unlike previous governments that used to take care of a particular community. “We make sure that there is all-round development. We want to speed up the process of development fourfold and now you all are living in a safe UP and secure UP,” Adityanath added.

He said the world is now looking up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and for world leaders the PM has become a trouble-shooter. “You are witnessing a changed India. Under the leadership of our prime minister for the last nine years, we have completed development projects… that could not be completed in the last 60 years,” said the CM.

Adityanath said voters in UP would not support any candidate backed by parties that indulge in caste politics and where nepotism is the only criterion for choosing a candidate.

“Our youths used to roam with country-made pistols during previous regimes but now carry smart tablets while mafia elements move with placards of surrender around their neck,” he said.

Praising Dilshad Hussain, a brass artisan who has been awarded the Padma Shri, the CM said: “The country is changing and we in the BJP want to move forward with the support of all and without any discrimination along caste and communal lines.”
