Lucknow/ Budaun: Women safety being the topmost priority of the state government , the first step taken by his government after coming into power was to deploy 'anti romeo squads' as part of the 'Mission Shakti' campaign, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Tuesday.

"Earlier, women were afraid of going out in the state as they felt unsafe. Our government in 2017, primarily worked on the protection of women with our 'Anti-Romeo' squad. We recruited 1.5 lakh police officers, of which 20 per cent were assigned the task of women's safety" said the CM while launching 359 development projects worth Rs 1328 crore in Budaun district.

Addressing the public, the CM mentioned that today, over 50 projects worth Rs 1,118 crore have been inaugurated while the foundation stone of more than 146 projects costing Rs 211 crore has been laid. It has been the intention of the government from day one that development projects should be completed in a time bound manner, maintaining the quality of work.

"The atmosphere of development in the state will become the reason for transformation in the life of the common man."

Lashing out at the previous SP government for promoting illegal slaughterhouses and cattle smuggling, the CM remarked, "Cow smuggling has always been a major issue in Uttar Pradesh as 'gau-taskari aur avaidh buchadkhane toh picchli sarkaro ki pehchan thi' ( Cattle smuggling and illegal slaughterhouses were hallmarks of previous govts). We closed illegal slaughterhouses to restrict cattle smuggling completely."

Criticising the law and order situation in the state during the previous government, the CM commented that there used to be frequent riots during the festivals, curfew used to be imposed and people could not celebrate festivals. Now, no riots took place in UP in the last four and a half years.

The situation has changed. Be it Diwali, Dhanteras, Govardhan Puja or Bhaiya Dooj, it was celebrated in every district of the state in a peaceful manner and with gaiety. Before 2017, even though there was no corona, there was curfew, 'aastha par kutharaghat hota tha'. And at the same time, if someone raised his voice against these rioters, false cases were filed against him, he added

Taking a dig at the opposition, the CM said. "During the Corona period, we were present with all our public representatives to strengthen the system here. But, the people of other parties remained confined in their homes during the time of crisis. These people were limited to Twitter only. When they were busy on twitter during the pandemic, they must get an answer on twitter only in the upcoming elections."

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that while the erstwhile governments of Uttar Pradesh considered their families to be the state, for him, the state is his family. Their only agenda was to buy a property, an island abroad.

"Earlier, if there were any job vacancies in the state, the whole family used to go out on recovery. The family reminds us of Mahabharat- 'koi chacha, koi bhatija, koi mama, koi babua'. Our government gave 4.5 lakh jobs and no one can raise a question on the recruitment process," he added.

The government's zero-tolerance policy against crimes and criminals is bearing results. On one hand, UP has come to the forefront as a riot-free, crime-free state. At the same time, UP has also set an example in taking action against the professional criminals, mafiosos who grow under the protection of power within the country, asserted the CM.

Following in the footsteps of the Centre which provided free rations for people till Diwali, UP government will also now be providing free rations from Diwali till Holi.

"Under the free ration, 35kg of food grains, 1kg of pulses, 1kg of cooking oil, 1kg of sugar, and 1kg of salt shall be given, depending on the number of family members. You must avail the scheme." Adityanath said.

Highlighting the pro-farmer stance of the government the CM said that it is under our government tha 86 lakh farmers were given a loan waiver of Rs 36,000 crores.

The Chief Minister said that once Budaun was known as a center for the study of Vedas. It is said that Maharaj Bhagirath did penance and the Ganges came to the land. This is the most fertile land in the whole world. The Prime Minister did the soil test for farmers and made it more fertile. Soil health card issued. In addition to crop insurance schemes, irrigation schemes, increased MSP , Kisan Samman Nidhi was released to the farmers, which is benefiting 12 crore farmers.

Targeting the previous government for not working in the interest of the farmers, the CM said that the Hudhud cyclone had hit in 2015, but till March 2017, the farmers did not get the compensation. In the month of October this year due to heavy rains the crop got damaged. Our government has sent five and a half lakh crore rupees to those farmers. Those farmers who did not get compensation will also be given soon.
