UP govt changes IGs of Lucknow and Varanasi ahead of PM visit

Lucknow, A day before the proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Varanasi and Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh government on thursday changed the zonal Inspectors General of Police (IGs) of both the places.

A.Satish Ganesh, till now the IG (law and order), will be the new IG(zone) of Lucknow replacing Zaki Ahmad who goes to Kanpur in the same capacity. S K Bhagat is posted as new IG(zone) of Varanasi in place of Hari Ram Sharma.

These names figured in the list of about 40 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers who were transferred in the state. The most of these officers were in the rank of Additional Director General of Police(ADG), IG, DIG, an official spokesman said.
