UP Assembly Polls: EC to closely monitor cash transactions

Varanasi: Deputy Election Commissioner Vijay Dev on Monday said that EC will keep a close eye on the cash transactions amid the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.

He was in Varanasi to check elections preparations in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's parliamentary constituency.

After the five-hour long review meeting with the senior electoral officials of 10 districts, Dev said he was satisfied with the preparations.

He also directed the concerned officials to prepare the list of proclaimed offenders and issue warrant against them.

He said that the EC would also closely monitor the use of liquor and drugs during the elections, adding, poll dates are always finalised considering the weather, festivals and Board examinations dates and the preparations of exams are in the final stage.

He also directed the officials to ensure criminals are kept away from the elections.
