Deoria: Seven persons were killed and 11 others got injured when a uncontrolled car crushed them when they were watching folk dance Pannaha village in Gauribazar area about 20 kms from Deoria district headquarters in Uttar Pradesh on late Monday night.

What happened:

  • The villagers were watching 'Faruahi' folk dance after a religious function.
  • A car driven by a drunk person shoved into the crowd killing seven persons.
  • The driver and the car were taken into custody.

DM said:

  • District magistrate Anita Srivastava told newztrack.com that six casulaities had been confirmed.
  • Four of the deceased were identified as Dinesh Yadav(35), Paras(60), Kaushalya (45), Bhabhuti(60) while others were being unidentified.
  • Six persons in serious condition had ben referred to Gorakhpur Medical College, she said.
  • Liquor bottles were found in the car.
  • Bodies were sent for postmortem.
