A rape victim in this district attempted to commit suicide when an officer at a police station here refused to register an FIR. She has been admitted to the district hospital where her condition is stated to be critical

Bahraich: A rape victim in this district attempted to commit suicide when an officer at a police station here refused to register an FIR. She has been admitted to the district hospital where her condition is stated to be critical.

The officer was approached on Friday after she was not entertained by any other official and had got a no from all others. Finding no hope left, she took the extreme step of ending the life.

As it happens in most other cases, the youth girl is being framed and officials are not ready to accept their mistakes.

When contacted by the newstrack one of them went to the extent of saying that her charge is false without sending her for medical examination.

District superintendent of police S R Verma has , however, ordered an inquiry and the truth is likely to tumble out soon.
