Petition filed against programme of Ghulam Ali in Varanasi

Varanasi: A petition has been filed in the First judicial magistrate’s court here against the participation of Pakistani ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali in the Sankatmochan Mahotsav in Varanasi on Tuesday evening.

The reason given by the petitioners is that religious sentiments of the Hindus have been hurt by his performance. The petition has been filed against Mahant Vishambhar Nath Mishra, besides others.

The next hearing of the case is May1.

The petitioner Kamlesh Chandra says:

• The priest of the temple is making it an arena of entertainment.
• Sankatmochan foundation is registered for cleaning Ganga and the programme was organized violating its rules.
