CBI arrests the boy behind hacking IRCTC server from Basti

Basti: In a major breakthrough, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) teams of Lucknow, Bangalore and Mumbai arrested Hamid Ashraf, the boy behind hacking the IRCTC servers.

Hamid Ashraf, a student of class XII was arrested from Dakhin Darwaza in Poorani Basti police station on Thursday, said police.

Modus operandi:

  • He used to hack the servers of IRCTC.
  • Hamid created a ticket within 30 seconds by hacking the site.
  • He had indulged in selling fake IRCTC software.

Recovery:

The CBI teams have recovered following items from Ashraf’s possession:

  • Ten laptops.
  • 70 sim cards.
  • 16 accounts and Rs 16 lakh in cash.
