BHU Vince Chancellor asks for sedition case against JNU students

Varanasi: Girish Chandra Tripathi, Vice-chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) on Thursday said that a case of treason should be registered against the students who raised anti-national slogans in JNU yestrday.

“It is a big danger to the sovereignity of our country” said Dr Girish Chandra while addressing a press conference about BHU centenary year celebrations. He added that students of BHU will not be allowed to celebrate Valantine’s Day on February 14 next as this is against the Indian culture.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the annual convocation ceremony on February 22 next, the VC informed.
  • Speaking about the centenary celebrations, he said that Union minister of Human Resource Development (HRD) Smriti Irani will be the chief guest in BHU’s Centenary year celebrations during which the university has lined up several events.
