It is to be mentioned that The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2018, which was passed in the Lok Sabha on December 27 during the Winter Session, criminalizes the practice and classifies triple talaq as a cognizable and non-bailable offence, with three years’ imprisonment and a fine. The bill is pending in the Rajya Sabha.
The investigation is on in this matter and appropriate action will be taken to resolve the issue, said Police.
