UP: Police raid leads to seizure of explosives for firecrackers, 1 arrested

Balrampur: One person was arrested after police raided a house here and seized illegally stored explosive material used in making firecrackers, officials said on Saturday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Radharaman Singh said police raided the residence in Aryanagar locality of the district on Friday night and recovered huge quantity of explosives used in making firecrackers.

The accused Amit Gupta has the licence to make firecrackers. However, he did not store the explosives at a designated place but at a secret place, police said.

Singh said Gupta has been arrested and the process to cancel the licence has been initiated.
