Lucknow. Despite being the most populous state, Uttar Pradesh is conducting aggressive vaccination of the 18+ category to counter the pandemic surge under the supervision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. UP becomes the first state in the country to inoculate maximum number of youth.

Since May 1, when registrations opened for the category of 18-44, about ten lakh youths have so far been able to receive a jab in Uttar Pradesh.

Vaccination in UP:

Experts say that the key to ending this pandemic isn't just to get vaccinated. It's to get vaccinated as soon as possible, before the virus mutates into new strains that can't be controlled. In light of the same, CM Yogi decided to run a massive vaccination drive for above 18 years in UP so that maximum people get their jabs.

This is the highest number of vaccination seen in this category since the inoculation exercise for 18+ began, showing the intent of the Yogi-led government to vaccinate as many as individuals of the youth brigade amid the destructive second coronavirus wave. It is notable that the deadly virus powered by new Covid variants has been impacting the younger population more.

According to an official there was almost 100% turnout at the vaccination centres on Friday. Moreover, all slots were also booked for the next two days.

With the anticipation of the third wave, CM Yogi is also planning to extend the drive and vaccinate parents of the kids over 10 year as soon as possible. He said this while addressing the public on his visit to Saifayi, Etawah.

The first state to announce free vaccination for 18-plus citizens

Moving rapidly towards immunising maximum people, Uttar Pradesh under CM Yogi has become the first state to start the third phase of the Covid-19 vaccination drive to inoculate people above 18 years of age. Currently, the drive is running in 23 districts of the state.

Taking the lead in Covid Vaccination, the state has so far administered as many as 1,62,16,379 doses of vaccine. Of these, 1,28,74,451 have received their first doses and around 33,41,928 got their second doses of vaccine. CM Yogi has been consistently working to ramp up the vaccination drive in the state.

Uttar Pradesh government has been leaving no stone unturned to meet the demand of vaccine doses in the state. On the other hand, the vaccination drive is affected in many other states because the government there has been blaming the crunch in supply rather than formulating a concrete plan for vaccination.
