Two killed in house collapse in Barabanki

At least two persons were killed and several others injured when a three storey building collapsed in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh at dawn on Monday.
According to the police sources several people were suspected to be still trapped under the debris of the house and that the rescue teams were trying to extricate them.
Rescue operations were going on in full swing and senior district officials were present on the spot to supervise the rescue operations, sources said.

Officials said in Barabanki that the building collapsed around three in the morning when the inmates were asleep catching them unawares. The incident happened near Satti Bazar sources said. The collapsed house belonged to Hashim, who operated an electronics equipment shop.
Sources said that the house which was adjoining the house of Hashim also caved in owing to th impact injuring around half a dozen people.
Sources said that relief and rescue operations were hampered by the darkness in the lane and also owing to the narrow space.
The dead were identified as Hashim’s 21-year old daughter Roshni Bano and another youth who was 28.
The officials said that they were trying to ascertain the reasons behind the collapse. The house was quite old and in a dilapidated condition which could be one the reasons behindits collapse, they added. The injured were sent to the district hospital while dead bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.
