Travel disrupted as freight train derails in Uttar Pradesh

Due to the accident rail traffic on the Farukhabad-Kanpur route has been disrupted and all passenger trains on the route have been stopped.

Lucknow: Two coaches of a non passenger train derailed in Uttar Pradesh’s Farukkhabad district in the morning hours on Saturday.

The incident took place near Rajepur village, 1 kilometre away from the Kamalganj station at around 6.15 a.m.

Due to the accident rail traffic on the Farukhabad-Kanpur route has been disrupted and all passenger trains on the route have been stopped.

The train’s guard is reportedly injured seriously and was rushed to a nearby medical facility, according to a source.

More than 500-metres of rail track has been ripped off.

According to an official the track is likely to be repaired by Saturday afternoon.

The cause of the derailment is under probe.
