Tourists limit to be set to maintain the glory of Taj Mahal

AGRA: The authorities are mulling over to restrict the entry of number of tourists as well as the visiting time for better maintenance of world monument Taj Mahal.

A meeting in this regard was held on Tuesday which was attended by officials from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB), National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Agra Development Authority (ADA) and few industrialists.

NEERI has suggested the ASI to limit the visitors during the High Tourists Potential Days to restrict the flow of tourists. A limit also will be set for visitors coming during weekends excluding the festive days.

The limit of tourists during the High Tourists Potential Days may be set to 9000 people per hour, though nothing has been finalized as of now.

NEERI has also kept forward a suggestion of setting up of a Laser Counting System at the Taj Mahal.

Sources close to ASI informed that in order to maintain the carrying capacity of The Taj, the concern body has already considered various suggestions given to it.
