Azamgarh: Three undertrials have escaped from the Azamgarh district jail in Uttar Pradesh in the early hours on Thursday.

The inmates escaped from the newly-constructed detention centre by climbing over the gas pipeline which runs along its boundary wall.

“Chandrashekar, Jitendra as well as their accomplice, who were facing trial in a case of dacoity, escaped from the prison. Their absence in the jail came to light during a routine check of prisoners last night,” said superintendent of police (SP) Rajesh Kumar Sahni.
