Why was the Bhasm Shankar temple located in Khaggu Sarai area in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh closed for the last 46 years? Politics is heated up over this question. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also raised the issue of Sambhal temple during the UP assembly session. It is perhaps a coincidence that the Shiv temple is just one kilometer away from the Shahi Jama Masjid of Sambhal, where there was a riot recently. How the doors of the Shiv temple in Sambhal were opened after 1978 is also surprising. According to police records, a riot broke out in Baniya Mohalla of Sambhal in 1978, in which more than 184 people were killed. After this, the Shiv temple located here was closed. Now the file of the riot that took place in Sambhal 46 years ago will be opened again.

In the UP assembly, CM Yogi Adityanath raised the issue of Shiv Mandir in Sambhal and asked many questions. After this statement of CM Yogi, it was decided that the file of Sambhal riots will be reopened once again. Riots took place in Sambhal on 29 March 1978. The riots lasted for many days. Curfew was imposed in the city for two months. A total of 184 people lost their lives in this riot. 169 cases were registered in this riot, but local people say that 184 people did not get justice for 46 years, but now there is hope for it. Moradabad Commissioner Anjaneya Singh on Monday called for all the records related to the riots from Sambhal DM Rajendra Pensia. Sources say that many cases can be reopened on the complaints of some people. In this matter, Commissioner Anjaneya Singh has also called an important meeting on Tuesday.

There was a well in the premises of Bhasm Shankar temple in Sambhal district. Water was taken from this well and worship was done in the temple, but after the temple was closed, it was encroached upon. It was filled up. Now this well is being excavated. So far three broken idols have been found in the well. Officials gave this information on Monday. Shri Kartik Mahadev Temple (Bhasm Shankar Temple) was reopened on December 13, when officials said that they found this structure during the anti-encroachment campaign. An idol of Lord Hanuman and a Shivling were installed in the temple. It was closed since 1978. There is also a well near the temple which the officials had planned to reopen. Sambhal District Magistrate Rajendra Pensia told reporters, 'The ancient temple and the well we have found are being excavated. About 10 to 12 feet of digging has been done. During this, today first the idol of Parvati ji was found, whose head was found broken, then the idols of Ganesh ji and Maa Lakshmi ji were found.
