UP state govt employees protest enters day 2; sanitation dept joins
Lucknow: The three-day strike by the members falling under the banner of Rajya Karmchari Sanyukt Parishad (RKSP) has entered second day with cleaning department also boycotting their work.
The step from the cleaning staff has increased the problems for the state government, which is already under fire with 16 lakh employees including the medical staff on protest to press for their demands.
Basic Education, Social Welfare, Public Works Department, Secondary Education Directorate, Labour, Transport, Agriculture, Treasury and Accounts offices remained closed on day 2.

- State government had accepted four demands in 2013 when employees protested for eleven long days
- The strike then was called off after Allahabad High Court’s intervention
- Other demands are still pending with the government
Sources say on the first day of the strike, the state lost Rs 800 crore in the form of revenue.
