Brother of BJP leader Sangeet Som arrested for carrying pistol to polling booth

Meerut: The district police, on Saturday, detained Gagan Som (brother of, Sangeet Som, BJP candidate from Sardhana constituency of Meerut) for carrying pistol inside a polling booth in Faridpur village.

The security officers whisked Gagan Som away from inside the booth.

The senior police officer said, "The act was in contravention of election rules and hence the action was taken."

It could be mentioned that earlier, today Sangeet cast his vote. He had attracted spotlight for his controversial speeches during the Muzaffarnagar riots.
