UP Polls: EC forms 5-member team to monitor paid news circulation

Lucknow: The Election Commission on Friday formed a five-member team to keep a check on the paid news cases amid the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2017.

Informing about the same, Additional District Magistrate Avinash Singh said, "Thirty televisions have been installened in the control rooms of collectorate and state Election Commission to monitor the paid news content circulated amid the UP assembly polls."

Apart from the TV content, social media platforms, like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, blogs and few other mobile applications will also be monitored during election in the state.

The five-member team consists District Megistrate Gauri Shankar Priyadarshi, SDM Raj Kamal Yadav, Assistant Director Information Department Sudhir Pandey, freelance journalist Mudit Mathur and District Information officer Dinesh Kumar Garg.
