Please all move by Mulayam to keep the family united

Lucknow: Akhilesh Yadav, Pradesh chief minister, will also be chairman of the state party parliamentary board, an apex body. The board plays an important role in selection of candidates which is what he has been asking for since the beginning of the tussle in the Yadav family which began last week.

It was in retaliation to this that Akhilesh changed his portfolios, taking out important ones. He has got those departments back but Shivpal was not happy with them. In addition, he wanted to retain the state president post . His wish was fulfilled and Akhilesh congratulated him also but with a " heavy heart" as a party insider put it.

So the party supremo had to do something to please Akhilesh. He [put Akhilesh in a parallel lposition with his uncle.This middle path was apparently chosen to keep him in good humour too. Akhilesh may be happy but certainly not Shivpal.

How long this truce, therefore, will last is anybody's guess.
