Barabanki: 200 jumped into river Sarayu by saying, 'if you get vaccine dose, you will die'

BARABANKI: Sisoda is a village with a population of 1500 people located in the Terai, 70 km from the district headquarters of Barabanki. There is so much fear about the vaccine in this village that on Sunday, when the Health Department team arrived here for vaccination, about 200 people of the village ran away from the fear of vaccine and reached the Saryu shore. When the health team reached the river, these people jumped into the river. However, the Health Department team explained them out.

A team of the Health Department had reached the villagers in Sisoda, a village in the Terai district of Barabanki district of Barabanki. The villagers were frightened by the health department's information about getting vaccinated in the village and they came and sat on the banks of the river Saryu flowing from outside the village.

When the Health Department team got information that the villagers were out of the village towards the river, they went to convince them. Seeing the team coming towards them, the villagers became so scared that they could not find a way to escape and they jumped into the Saryu river to escape from the team. The villagers did not even care about their lives while making the leap.

Seeing the villagers leap into the river, the Health Department team swelled and requested the villagers to come out but the villagers were not ready to move out. After which Ramnagar SDM Rajiv Shukla and Nodal Officer Rahul Tripathi reached the spot and both explained to the people a lot after which people came out of the river.

Only 14 people got vaccinated in 1500 population

There has been so much misconception among the villagers about the vaccine that in Sisoda village with a population of 1500 people, only 14 people got vaccinated despite the hard work of administration and health department.
