NRHM scam: CBI raids 21 places in Lko, Dehradun and Amritsar

Lucknow: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday raided as many as 21 places in connection with the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam.

According to official sources, the CBI has raided 16 places in the capital of Uttar Pradesh while others in Dehradun and Amritsar. The sites raided in Lucknow include house of Dr A K Shukla (former chief medical officer of Raebareli and Lucknow), Residence of Dr Pradeep Mishra (former chief medical superintendent of Raebareli), deputy CMO Dr S K Chak’s house, former municipal health officer Dr P K Singh’s residence as well as the residences of senior medical officer Dr Rizwan Qureshi and former CMO Dr O P Verma.

It may be mentioned that the NRHM scam is a corruption scandal of Uttar Pradesh in which top bureaucrats as well as politicians have been accused of siphoning off a massive amount of Rs 100 crore from NRHM, a programme of the central government aimed at improving health care delivery in rural areas.
