Lucknow: The process to elect 17th Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha rolled today, being first day of the nomination for the first phase of polling.

A total of 73 assembly constituencies in 15 districts in western UP will go for poll in the first phase on February 11.

On the inaugural day, only one nomination was filed in Mathura district by Fakkad Baba.

Meanwhile, the first phase of voting will include districts - Agra, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Etah, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Budh Nagar (Noida), Firozabad.

The last date for filing the nomination papers is January 24.

Uttar Pradesh will go for polls in seven phases to be held on February 11, 15, 19, 23, 27, March 4 and 8 respectively.
