Baghpat: Khap panchayat, the strong social group in western Uttar Pradesh, also joined the controversy over saying ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ by issuing a fresh diktat in this regard.

In response to the fatwa issued against chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai,’ the Khap Panchayat on Saturday decided to socially and commercially boycott the people who denied chanting the slogan.

The panchayat was chaired at Bijraul village in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh.

The ‘mukhiya’ (chief) of the panchayat condemned the fatwa.

“One should be ready to face the boycott on not chanting the slogan,” he said.
