Mayawati takes on Smriti Irani over degree row

Lucknow: Countering Textile Minister Smriti Irani over educational qualification, Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati on Thursday said it is former’s moral duty to furnish details of her educational degrees public.

“Smriti Irani has asked Delhi University not to disclose details regarding her educational qualifications, which shows that the matter is not that clear, as it looks,” said Mayawati.

“She should have allowed the School of Open Learning of the DU to make the details public after the order of the Central Information Commission (CIC),” she added.

CIC has instructed the School of Open Learning (SoL) to provide details of Irani’s educational details. It could be mentioned here that she had given contradictory information in her affidavits when she contested elections in 2004, 2011 and 2014.
