Lucknow's Charbagh railway station is a 'no banana' zone!
Lucknow: In an attempt to maintain cleanliness, the railway authorities in Lucknow have taken a bizarre step of putting a complete ban on the sale of bananas outside the Charbagh Railway Station.
Authorities found that people throw banana peels on the road after eating, creating conditions for spread of infectious diseases.
To overcome this menace, authorities have ordered the food vendors not to sell bananas. Doing so may impose fines on them.
The move, however, has not gone down well with the fruit vendors and commuters as well, as they find bananas the cheapest source of nutrition for poor.
A local vendor said, "I sell bananas the most among all the fruits and it is my source of income. Administration banning it has affected my business adversely."
