Lucknow: In a bid to make this Independence Day more extra special, the Uttar Pradesh tourism has decided to start the ‘light and sound’ show once again at the Residency.

"The setup was initially mounted in 2000 and was only audio. Later, it got handed down to various government agencies. Funds have been sanctioned to UPRNN (Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam) for the project and we are making efforts to get the show going from August 15," said UP Tourism’s joint secretary PK Singh.

Initially, the show was 45 minutes in duration and had the river Gomti as the narrator of the events of the mutiny as a permanent witness to the historic events.

While that remains, the voice-over will now be done by Amitabh Bachchan with music composition by AR Rahman, both of whom have, in principle, approved to be part of the project.
