Lucknow: In another disgraceful behaviour with a journalist in the state, an Uttar Pradesh Police officer performed indecency with photojournalist Ashutosh Tripathi.

UP's East Zone Superintendent of Police Sarvesh Mishra harassed the newstrack.com and Apna Bharat newspaper's chief photographer, on Friday, in the state capital while the latter was covering an event.

The cop grabbed Tripathi from his collar and manhandled him when the journo was requesting them not to use abusive language. The UP Police went to the extent of threatening him of framing him in a false case.

The police department noticed the issue after the intervention of senior journalists Yogesh Mishra and Naval Kant Sinha and has assured a proper investigation on the issue.

Senior Superintendent of Policde (SSP) Deepak Kumar has ordered an investigation and directed North zone SP Anand Shahi to look into the matter.

It is worth mentioning that this was just one of the cases across the country that shows the level of insecurity for the journalists in India. Another recent case took place in Jammu and Kashmir where senior journalist and Editor-in-Chief of English daily ‘Rising Kashmir’ Shujaat Bukhari was assassinated by three motorcycle borne militants.
