UP govt brings legislation to regularise former CM's bungalows
The SC on August one last, had ordered vacation of these bungalows within two months on a petition filed by a Lucknow-based NGO Lok Prahari. The proposal also seeks to raise the allowances of former ministers who have not been allotted government accommodations
Lucknow: Seeking to nullify the Supreme Court order, the Uttar Pradesh government on Monday tabled a bill in the state assembly which seeks to regularise the possession of government bungalows by six former Chief Ministers. The Supreme court had ordered vacation of government accommodation by them. The amended bill,Uttar Pradesh Ministers amendment Bill 1981, will validate allotment of government accommodation to the former Chief Ministers
Those who are in possession of such accommodation included Mulayam Singh Yadav, Ram Naresh Yadav ND Tewari , Kalyan Singh, Rajnath Singh and Mayawati (BSP).
