Lucnkow: In a most bizarre incident, a senior Uttar Pradesh Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Dr Hariom was beaten up by the employees of his department.

Dr Hariom, the Consolidation Commissioner of UP, was sitting in office on Wednesday when a consolidation officer Rakesh Pandey barged into his room along with few others and assaulted him. He was upset over his transfer and wanted the Commissioner to take back his transfer order, sources said.

Pandey and his son were later taken into custody by the police. They had also threatened to throw him from seventh floor of the building.

This is, however, not the first time that the same office has been a witness to such incident as the earlier Consolidation Commissioner Murlidhar Dubey was also subjected to similar treatment on May 22 last year. No FIR was registered in that case so far.
